OUR STORY
OUR STORY
LULU The Label was founded by Lucy Barnes during her time studying Fashion Design, inspired by a desire to find a use for the leftover fabrics from her university collection. As she developed her final-year work, the issue of fabric waste became increasingly clear. Wanting to make the most of every scrap, Lucy began designing and creating beautiful scrunchies. What started as a simple project quickly grew into a thoughtful, sustainable brand rooted in creativity and conscious craftsmanship.
All LULU The Label accessories are handmade with love by Lucy in North London, from scrunchies and hair bows to pet bandanas and accessories. Each piece is carefully crafted from start to finish, with a focus on reducing waste and celebrating the beauty of every fabric.
With a fresh and thoughtful approach to design, LULU The Label uses off-cuts, deadstock, ex-designer and responsibly sourced new fabrics. Every accessory is cut using a zero waste pattern cutting technique, ensuring no material goes unused. When you purchase from LULU The Label, you are not only supporting slow fashion but also helping to save beautiful textiles from ending up in landfill.
Sustainability is important to us
At LULU The Label, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We use biodegradable postal bags and recyclable paper packaging to ensure every order is as eco-friendly as possible. Our commitment to reducing waste extends throughout the entire process, from our scrap-busting scrunchies and zero waste pattern cutting techniques to our thoughtful, plastic-free packaging. We're proud to offer handmade accessories that not only look beautiful but also help care for the planet.
We are even David Attenborough recognised, in a touching personal written letter.
“Dear Lucy,
Thank you for your letter. I am delighted to know that you are doing so much to help in dealing with the problem with plastics.
The natural world needs all the help we can give it.
Best wishes”
